$FROK has been building quietly for nearly two years at the intersection of crypto, AI, and test-time compute. I’ve followed the project since Nov 2024, and it’s finally approaching public launch.

The thesis: as AI intelligence becomes increasingly valuable, test-time compute could develop its own market—similar to blockspace/gas—where users dynamically pay for access to intelligence and capacity.

Frok is building around this with two products:

Frok Swap — Built from scratch over ~8 months and now in beta. The team claims it’s an extremely fast and cheap swap engine on Base, with execution designed to outperform traditional aggregators/solvers. The plan is eventually to open-source it.

Frok Chat — An onchain aggregator of major LLMs designed around “elastic intelligence”: users pay for the intelligence/compute they actually consume. $FROK acts as the economic layer/“gas” powering access, creating a pay-per-use intelligence market aimed particularly at AI power users.

From the outside, the project has looked almost abandoned because there’s been little marketing. Behind the scenes, most of the effort has gone into building the infrastructure, with the results expected to become public soon.

My core bet is that AI inference/test-time compute becomes a scarce, dynamically priced resource, and crypto provides useful rails for creating an open market around it. If that thesis plays out and Frok executes, $FROK could sit directly in the value flow.

Liquidity is currently low and reported market-cap figures may not accurately represent the situation, so this remains highly speculative.

Caveman thesis:

OpenAI burn money make intelligence. Intelligence expensive. Market need price intelligence. Frok make market. Grug bid FROK for brain power. More grugs want brain power → more FROK demand.
